Accurate quota setup ensures reliable research by enabling targeted, balanced data collection with real-time control. A Group/Profile Quota lets you limit completes based on the respondent's profile, using existing user data such as profiling points, demographics, recruitment source, or group membership.
Use Group/Profile Quota when you want to shape your sample with known, pre-existing attributes rather than with answers from the current survey.
Create a Group/Profile Quota
From inside your survey, click the Quota Management icon.
If no quotas are defined, click the + Create Quota button.
Choose the Group/Profile Quota option as the starting point.
Give your quota a clear, descriptive name to make it easier to manage later by clicking the pencil icon next to any default name (for example, "Untitled Quota").
Example names:
"Profile – Age 18–24 (n=100)"
"Group – Loyalty Members (n=150)"
"Source – Panel A (n=200)"
Enter the limit or maximum number of allowed responses that meet this condition. The quota count increases each time a respondent who matches this profile/group condition completes the survey.
Use the condition builder to target participants based on stored user information. Select criteria such as:
Profiling points (for example, age band, region, tenure)
Demographic attributes (for example, age, gender)
Group membership (for example, specific panels or communities)
Recruitment source (if captured as a user attribute)
Choose what happens when the quota is met. You can select one of the following options:
Stop collection and show a message
Example: "Sorry, the maximum number of responses for this group has been met. Thanks for your time!"
Continue collecting responses—Allows responses beyond the quota for monitoring or "soft" limits.
(Optional) Check the send a notification email box to send an email when the Group/Profile Quota limit is reached.
Click Save to apply the Group/Profile Quota to your survey.
Examples
Limit completes by group membership
Condition: Group = “VIP Members”
Limit: 150 completes
Action: Stop collection and show a message
Balance the sample by region
Condition: Region = “North”
Limit: 100 completes
Condition: Region = “South”
Limit: 100 completes
Action: Continue collecting responses beyond the limit for monitoring
Control traffic from a specific source (if stored as a profile field)
Condition: Recruitment Source = “Panel A”
Limit: 200 completes
Action: Stop collection and show a message
When to Use Group/Profile Quota vs. In-Survey Quota
Use Group/Profile Quota when your condition is based on stored user data:
Profiling points
Age or gender
Group membership
Known recruitment source
Use In-Survey Quota when your condition is based on answers to questions in this survey, such as:
Screener qualification questions
Brand awareness or usage
Attitudinal or behavioral questions
Think of Group/Profile Quota as controlling who the respondent is, and In-Survey Quota as controlling what they say in the survey.
