Option 1: Unique referral links
Option 1: Unique referral links
Send an email out to all members containing a unique referral link for them to share with friends/family.
The unique referral links will contain a unique identifier (typically the user ID of the referrer) that will allow us to keep track of who refers whom.
The referral period will remain open for a set period (typically one month). After the referral period ends, Fuel Cycle will credit the appropriate reward to each referrer based on how many new members joined the community through their unique link.
Sample email language
Subject line: Refer a friend and earn rewards!
Content:
Dear ${USER_FIRST_NAME},
Do you have any friends or family who might be interested in joining [X COMMUNITY]? Send them your unique referral link below and earn [X points] for each referral who successfully joins the community and activates their account before [X DATE]!
[UNIQUE LINK]
Note: Points for successful referrals will be credited to you after the referral period ends on [X DATE].
Option 2: Evergreen survey
Launch a standalone Refer-a-Friend survey in the community. In the survey, members will be able to provide a set number of names and email addresses for friends/family they would like to refer (typically up to 3 referrals).
Fuel Cycle will pull the responses from this survey and send out invitations to new referrals on a set cadence (typically bi-weekly or monthly).
Referrers will be rewarded automatically after completing the referral survey.
