Member Quality and Fraud Checks Follow
Anything involving rewards attracts bad actors. Insights communities are no exception!
Even with several layers of tech-oriented and automated fraud prevention tools (such as Research Defender) before and during recruitment, it is strongly recommended to perform manual reviews of final member data for low-quality responses or potential fraud—preferably on a monthly schedule.
Fuel Cycle will handle these reviews for your first recruitment. You can use Community Management services for ongoing reviews as you need to. Here are some review suggestions:
-
Beware of low-quality open-end responses
- Gibberish
- Non-sensical
- Irrelevant
- Duplicate
- Use your best judgment when limiting duplicate IPs. Sometimes, the audience may include family members, employees, or students in shared housing who often share the same internet provider.
- Duplicate accounts, names, or birthdays
- Strange or usual email domains
- Usernames with vulgar or profane words
- Contradictory answers
- Keep any available incentivized recruitment activities below the threshold to qualify for an immediate gift card.
- Multiple/unique recruitment links can be used/clicked once and tailored to the recipient (for example, Customer ID may be appended). Use these whenever possible.
-
Single/re-usable recruitment links can be used/clicked infinite times until disabled. Use these only when you cannot leverage multiple/unique links (for example, social media posts, login page drip campaigns, or QR codes).
- Set the link to expire, even for ongoing open recruitments.
- Replace links on webpages, social media, or QR codes regularly.
- Set a cap on the number of sign-ups per link.
- Disable old links from previous recruitments.
- Keep incentivized activities during active recruitments lower than the gift card redemption threshold.
- Set the link to expire, even for ongoing open recruitments.
- Requiring SMS verification with 2-factor authentication for signup and rewards redemptions is a great way to curb potential fraud.
