Member Community Home Page 🎬 Follow
This article describes an orientation to the community home page, which members see as they log in to your community.
Community Logo
At the top left, you will see your community logo. Clicking this will automatically route you back to the member home page.
Settings
Over in the top right, you will have several options:
- The “magnifying glass” icon enables members to search the community for things like keywords or page titles.
- The “bell” icon displays community announcements. If you tag activities with the Announcements category, those will be displayed for members here.
- Clicking the “initial letter icon” will bring up options that are specific to the member, such as notifications when other community members or moderators comment back to them on a discussion.
- Members can view or change various aspects of their profile in the Account Settings menu.
- Members have the option to change their username or similar fields—depending on the settings you have allowed—under Member Info.
- The Communications tab allows members to enable or disable various settings related to emails, announcements, or notifications.
- Update Account will allow members to update their email address or password. They must verify access to the current email first.
- The section titled My Activity will display a summary of all actions they have taken inside the community – as well as any points that may have been associated with those actions.
- Support will take them to the community’s native message center. This is where members can send private messages to the moderators. The support message topics that members can choose—as well as the “Support” label itself—can be fully customized.
- The last option is for members to manually log out of the community.
Main Navigation Bar
Below the community logo is the main navigation bar.
- This is where there are links that compile all activities tied to the specific Categories and Topics you have tagged to each activity. All labels are fully customizable and can be changed in the Settings tab. Please see our article on Community Settings for more information.
- If you have points and rewards enabled, the Points page can be found here as well. Please see our articles on Gamification for more information.
- The last tab labeled Community allows members to access the community roster and any public information. This is only displayed if your Privacy settings allow for it.
Featured Activities
Below the navigation bar is the Featured Activities module. This is often referred to as the feature carousel since activities that are featured here slowly rotate every few seconds with fades. Please see our article on Featured Activities for more information.
Main Activities
Below that is the main activity dashboard. Whenever activities are made visible on the community home page, they will exist as a tile here. The newest activity is located in the top left.
Activities in the featured carousel and the main dashboard will only be displayed to members if they are eligible to view them as set by their profile information and group categorization.
Each activity will typically be displayed in the same format. There will be an activity card image, a title, and a description. The number of activity cards displayed per row will depend on the specific resolution settings in a member’s browser.
Optional settings include...
- showing the date an activity was published or edited.
- The maximum number of points a member can earn by completing an activity.
- And an indicator of whether an activity is “new” to a member or has already been “completed”.
- Display the number of “comments”, “media uploads” or “likes” that have already been added to the project.
The dimensions of the activity cards and featured carousel are static and cannot be changed.
Page Footer
The member home page footer typically houses two important pages:
- The “Privacy” page contains your community’s privacy policy and data control access.
- The “Access Your Data” tab is where members can confirm their identity and request an export or correction of their data or to have their data completely deleted. This complies with privacy laws such as CCPA and GDPR.Â
The footer also hosts a link to your community’s “Rules of Participation”. Members agree to this before signing up but hosting here allows them to always have access to this language for any reference needs.
