Mobile Live Interviews with FC Live Follow
To ensure a smooth mobile experience for your FC Live interview, participants can use a desktop, laptop, or mobile device. However, additional steps are needed if your interview requires mobile screen sharing.
Our partner Discuss.io, who helped develop FC Live, has a mobile app available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store called Discuss.io Mobile Screen Share. This app is essential for interview participants to share their screens in real time during an FC Live session.
For mobile interviews, set up the interview the same way as any other FC Live session using the “Schedule Interview” tool in the platform.
Moderators must join an FC Live interview on a desktop or laptop device.
Before conducting a mobile interview, ensure that all participants have downloaded the app on their iOS or Android device for a seamless interview experience. When inviting participants to join your mobile-centric interview, it is important to explicitly state that they need to join on their mobile device or join on a desktop but have their mobile device handy, and download the app ahead of time.

If a participant would like to join the interview on a mobile device, or if it is a requirement for your interview, they can click on the respondent link in their interview confirmation email or the calendar invitation for their session. This will prompt the participant to join through their default mobile browser. The participant will be prompted to allow camera and microphone permissions, and then they can enter the waiting room and join the interview.
The mobile view closely resembles the desktop respondent view. It features a chat button at the bottom left of the screen, options to enable or disable the microphone and camera on the right side, and a gallery view showing the moderator and other participants at the top.
The participant can exit the interview, update their settings, or start a mobile screen share using the three-dot menu on the bottom right.
When starting screen sharing, participants will see a pop-up that prompts them to download the app if they haven't already done so. The pop-up will also display the meeting's numeric code, which they can copy and paste into the app. The participant can choose to copy the code directly from the browser pop-up, or they have the option to have the code emailed or texted to them.
When participants have the code ready, they should open their Discuss.io app and paste or type the code into the "Enter Code" box at the top of the page.
If the code is correct for the meeting, they will be prompted to click on the "start broadcast" button on the app. If the code is incorrect, the app will display an "Invalid Screen Share Code" message and prompt the user to try again. There will be a 3-second countdown before the screen share begins.
The moderator must approve the mobile screen share before it appears during the interview. Click the "Allow" button to share your mobile screen. When approved, the moderator, observers, and any other participants will see the live share on their screens.
To stop screensharing, the participant can return to the browser and click "Dismiss" in the top left corner or the "Stop Broadcasting" button in the app. A moderator can also stop a mobile screenshare from a participant by clicking on the "Dismiss" button at the top of their desktop view.
After the screen share, the participant can continue the interview on their mobile browser.
Respondents can also complete the interview on a desktop and still share a mobile screen. On the desktop, to share a mobile screen, the respondent will need to click on the "Mobile Screen Share" button located at the bottom center of their desktop screen. They will see the same "Share your Mobile Screen" pop-up with the interview room’s access code. After that, they will need to open the app on the mobile device, enter the access code, and then they can share their screen.
To stop screensharing, the respondent can click the “Stop Broadcasting” button on their app.
