Research Engine
The Research Engine is the future of the Fuel Cycle platform. It is a completely new approach to how we build capabilities and deliver value to our customers. It will completely replace our 'legacy' interface, so all functionality is being migrated into the Research Engine. This will happen over a long period, meaning both systems will be in use as we transition. Our focus is on the most used and impactful features first, so users will quickly find the Research Engine as their primary interface day-to-day.
The Research Engine is being built with AI as a backbone, allowing us to reinvent the entire insights lifecycle. Customers can expect heavy automation, significantly less manual work, and more powerful insights.
Starting in November of 2024, we will begin sunsetting pieces of our legacy platform, continuing this throughout 2025 as we strive to fully retire the old platform.
Roadmap
Our Roadmap is a continuously evolving 2-3 month plan of the features and capabilities that we are committed to Building. Why only 2-3 months? We strive to maintain agility by constantly talking to customers, testing new ideas, gauging the market, running lots of experiments, and then acting on the options that will have the largest impact on our customers and platform. In this environment, things are constantly changing, and keeping our commitments near term allows us to continually adjust to changes. The roadmap has a mix of capabilities across the stages of Labs, Beta, and General Availability features.
Backlog (Not yet on Roadmap)
We'd love to build every idea that arises, from our team and especially from our customers, but in reality, we have to make a lot of tough decisions on what will have the biggest impact and best fits the product direction. Whenever possible, we assess the feasibility of a request and communicate it to stakeholders. However, things often live in our backlog for a while, allowing us to gather more feedback and perhaps experiment with it. We enjoy having numerous potential ideas to work on and allowing the best ones to 'rise to the top' of the backlog for prioritization.
Labs
This is the place for new ideas and experiments that are inspired by customer feedback, market research problems, and new technology. You can think of these as prototypes that demonstrate an idea in a 'hands-on' kind of way, allowing better feedback and validation of the idea. Whenever possible, we connect these to real data so that you can get an actual job done, or at least partially done, other times it's just for demo. Not all of these ideas will make it into the platform, but the more customer enthusiasm the more likely it will get built, so check them out regularly.
Beta
We intentionally build 70-80% of a new feature's functionality and then release it for use under the Beta tag. Rest assured that we have put a lot of research into the feature and built it iteratively with feedback from our internal teams, so it's 100% usable and creating great value. We purposely leave space in our roadmap to close up the remaining 20-30% so that customers can help shape the final product. Use our Beta features every day to get your job done, but provide us feedback on how we can make it even better, as your voice will shape the final product.
General Availability
As new capabilities mature, and we've worked with customer feedback to complete the feature set, we remove the Beta tag and consider it a fully released product. It doesn't mean development has completely stopped, but there will be fewer regular updates over longer periods of time.
