Community Settings—Member Settings Follow
This article briefly summarizes each aspect of the Community > Settings > Member Settings tab of Community Settings and how they appear in the Community.
Member Settings
Allow members to edit comments, posts, and uploads—When enabled, members can edit their comments, posts, and uploads until the post has been liked, rated, or commented on. At that point, the edit ability is disabled.
Allow members to post private responses—When enabled, a member can mark an activity comment as private. Only moderators and clients can view and reply to the comment when the member comment is marked as private. This will allow you to have a private discussion with the member and prevent other members from seeing it.
This setting also affects member responses in Research Engine-generated projects.
Inactivity Definition (days)—Select the point at which a member status automatically changes to Inactive from the following options:
- Never
- 1 day
- 7 days
- 14 days
- 21 days
- 30 days
- 60 days
- 90 days
Dormant Definition (additional days)—Select the point at which Inactive accounts are automatically set to Dormant from the following options:
- Never
- 1 day
- 7 days
- 14 days
- 21 days
- 30 days
- 60 days
- 90 days
Time inactivity notifications are sent—Choose the time of day to send alerts to members of their inactivity.
Allow users to change username—If you'd like to allow members to change their username after sign-up, enable this option. Our platform uses a unique User ID to identify members, so allowing a member to change their username will not affect the data associated with that member.
Hide User Profile From—There is an option to select Client, Moderator, and/or Member. If you'd prefer members not to be able to see other members, clients, or moderator public profile pages, select accordingly here. For many communities, it is a best practice to select the Hide from Members option.
