Accurate quota setup ensures reliable research by enabling targeted, balanced data collection with real-time control. An In-Survey Quota lets you limit completes based on how the respondent answers a question in this survey.
Use In-Survey Quotas when you want to shape your sample using screener logic, behavior, attitudes, or other criteria captured within the survey itself.
Set Up an In-Survey Quota
From inside your survey, click the Quota Management icon.
If no quotas are defined, click the + Create Quota button.
Choose the In-Survey Quota option as the starting point.
Give your quota a clear, descriptive name by clicking the pencil icon next to any default name (for example, "Untitled Quota").
Example names:
“Q2 – Brand A users (n=100)”
“Q5 – Qualified (Yes) (n=75)”
“Q3 – None of the above (n=50)”
In the condition builder, select Survey Question as your data source.
Choose the specific question and answer option(s) you want to count toward the quota. For example:
Question: "Which of the following brands have you purchased in the past 3 months?"
Answer: "Brand A"
Question: "Have you purchased [product] in the last 3 months?"
Answer: "Yes"
Enter the maximum number of allowed responses that meet this in-survey condition.
The quota count increases each time a respondent who meets this condition completes the survey.
Choose what happens when the quota is met. You can select one of the following options:
Stop collection and show a message
Example:
"Thanks for your interest. We have reached the limit for this type of response and cannot accept additional participants at this time."
Continue collecting responses
Allows responses beyond the quota for monitoring or "soft" limits.
(Optional) Enable quota notifications:
Check the box to send a notification email when the In-Survey Quota limit is reached.
Click Save to apply the In-Survey Quota to your survey.

Track a low-incidence segment without blocking
Condition: Q3 ("Which of the following applies to you?") = "None of the above"
Limit: 50 completes
Action: Continue collecting responses (monitor only)
When to Use In-Survey Quota vs. Group/Profile Quota
Use In-Survey Quota when your condition is based on answers to questions in this survey, such as:
Screener or qualification questions
Brand awareness or consideration
Purchase or usage behavior
Attitudinal or satisfaction questions
Demographics were asked within the survey
Use Group/Profile Quota when your condition is based on stored user data, such as:
Profiling points (for example, age band, region, tenure)
Age or gender in the member profile
Group membership (for example, specific panels or communities)
Known recruitment source captured as a profile field
Think of In-Survey Quota as controlling what the respondent says in this survey, and Group/Profile Quota as controlling who the respondent is before they answer.
