FC Exchange (FCX) Studies are external partner tools made available to community members through a "universal connection." The study itself runs on the partner's platform. Fuel Cycle routes the member to the external tool using a tracked URL, then receives a completion status back — complete, terminated, over quota, or low quality — and processes the reward accordingly.
Note: Connecting FCX studies to community content currently requires creating an FCX block in the Legacy platform Activity creation process. The Research Engine covers study record management only.
Navigate to FC Exchange Studies
Select Research Tools from the main navigation, then select FCX Studies.
View the Studies List
The FC Exchange Studies page is where you register and manage study records. From here, you can view all studies, create new records, and edit existing ones. Each row includes the following columns:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | The internal study name. Members do not see this title. |
| Partner | The partner product associated with the study, such as External, UserTesting, or FC Core API. |
| Status | The current study status: Active or Inactive. |
| Import date | The date the study was imported into the Research Engine. |
| Retake enabled | Indicates whether members can access the study more than once. |
| Edit | Opens the study editor. Displays when editing is available for the study. |
| Report | Links to the study report. Displays when a report is available. |
Filter and Search
Use the All Partner Products dropdown to filter by partner. Use the All Statuses dropdown to filter by study status. To find a specific study, type its name in the Search field.
If the list spans multiple pages, use the pagination controls at the bottom of the table to move between pages. You can also adjust the number of items displayed per page.
Create an FCX Study
- Select + Create New FCX Study in the upper right of the FC Exchange Studies page.
- Enter a Study Name. This name is for moderation purposes only. Members do not see it.
- Enter the Study URL. This is the base link your research tool provides for the study.
- Under Retake Enabled, select Yes to allow members to access the study more than once, or No to restrict access to a single visit. The default is No.
- Select Create Study.
Edit an FCX Study
In the studies list, select Edit in the row for the study you want to update. Make your changes, then save.
Note: The Edit option only appears for studies where editing is supported. If the column is empty for a study, that study cannot be edited directly from this page.
