April 2023
-
New APIs Available
- P2 Engine Fields in Exports Update—When appending P2 fields to an export file, Moderators can now request to export the question text of the P2 fields rather than the reference text. This allows for cleaner exports that do not include any underscores (for example, "Marital_Status" becomes "Marital Status"). The export request will default to the reference text setting to not disrupt current client processes. Select Export message text when setting up your export to show the cleaner labels.
- No Longer Collecting Contact Info During Rewards Redemption—Members are no longer required to provide a mailing address when redeeming their first reward in the community. This was a previous requirement to combat redemption fraud. Combatting redemption fraud is now addressed in other ways.
- Moderator Details—When creating Moderator accounts, First and Last names are now required. To populate the name for all existing Moderators, Moderators will be prompted to update this at their next login. Pop-up Instructions have been added to instruct what to do.
- Delta Testing
- Added Unique Issue Link—Each Delta Testing ticket now has a unique URL that can be copied to your clipboard from the moderator view of the ticket listing page.
- Updated Category Default Sort Order—On the main Delta Testing category page, Delta Testing projects now default sort by Published Date, newest to oldest.
- Updated Ticket Default Sort Order—Delta Testing tickets now default to sort by Date Submitted, newest to oldest. The default sort was previously set as alphabetical by ticket title.
- Updated Ticket Search—The search on the Delta Testing ticket listing page was expanded to include searching by username and description.
- Filter by "My Tickets"—There is a new toggle filter available to only see tickets the logged-in user is the author of. Available in both the Mod and Member interfaces.
- Allow Delete Comments—Moderators can now delete comments within Delta Testing tickets (within the Fuel Cycle moderator screen only). Members can now delete their own comments within the Member interface.
- Allow Up/Down Voting Changes—Members and Mods can now change their votes within Delta Testing. Previously members were locked into their initial vote choice.
March 2023
- Profane Comment Auto-Flag—When a community enables a profanity filter, any comment that contains a profane word will now be flagged automatically. This enables mods to filter by flagged comments so they can monitor any profanity. Those automatically flagged comments will reference “system_mod” as the flagger and will have a “Profanity Auto-Flag” tag.
- Mobile App Redesign—The Community mobile app has been redesigned for a more modern appearance and ease of use.

Announcements
Delta Testing
- The mobile app now includes Live Events, so members will no longer have to launch Events (including FC Live) through the browser.
February 2023
- Dormant members added—On the Member Dashboard under Cohort Analysis, the graphs now account for Active, Inactive, and Dormant members.
- Discovery tab renamed to Reporting—In preparation for updates to our reporting module, this tab name was changed to better describe the functionality that exists within that tab.
- FC Analytics is now the landing page for Reporting.
- Live Events—In conjunction with updates to our FC Live tool, we've combined FC Live and Events into one tab: Live Events.
- The location programming has moved to the Schedule tab for setting up a Live Event so that users can now have a unique location for each event time slot.
- Members can now join any Live Event (both FC Live and non-FC-Live) from the landing of the activity. Previously this was only available for FC Live Events.
- Delta Testing
- Landing Page—Delta Testing activities can now have landing page content above the ticketing list. This programming functions exactly like the landing page step of activity creation, except you may only add Text and File blocks. There is also no longer a static label of “Delta Test” before each title. Please note, due to the width of the page caused by the ticketing list, text content does look best when center-aligned.
- Customize Call-to-Action—Moderators can now customize the call-to-action button text, previously listed as "Submit a ticket".
- Members may now only redeem points once they have activated their account. Members can still earn points on login polls before activating their account, but they will see a message on their rewards page until they activate.
- Reports of Quick Poll completions have been added to the Dashboard as a Community Statistics card and in the Currently Published Activities table.
January 2023
- Profile Settings: Default Gender Question—The gender question has been updated to be more inclusive and now displays as:
- Gender:
-
- Male
- Female
- Non-binary
- None of the above
- Prefer not to answer
-
- If you wish to offer more inclusive options beyond these, you can ask a customized gender question in a screener or profile survey.
- Gender:
- Support: Enhanced Search Bar Options—Moderators can now search for support tickets via the member's email address or username. This was previously searchable via the support ticket topic only.
December 2022
- Download List—On Activities, Member Forum exports, Member Post exports, Delta Testing, and Live Chats, you can now export the main dashboard table data so that you may have a running record or list outside of the platform.
October 2022
- Updated email templates—new, minimally-designed templates used for an Activity's "Save & Email" feature and email campaigns.
- Email subject lines and preheaders now support Unicode emojis. 😎
- Custom rewards cards now have editable images, reward names, and descriptions.
- Survey data in exports now displays similar to what is possible for exports directly in survey tools. This setting applies to both full surveys attached to an activity, shown in the Poll tab, or survey questions appended to the export, shown in multiple tabs. Display the survey data in 3 different ways:
- Regular values (default)—The values displayed to the participants in the survey and the most common data desired in an export.
- Coded values—The values the survey programmer updated in the survey tool when creating the survey. Also referred to as “reporting values”. These are utilized if performing data analysis (e.g., Strongly Agree = 5) or if there were lengthy or complex questions or options that needed summary values (e.g., How likely are you to purchase this product in the next year? = 12M Purchase Intent, Asian Pacific Islander Desi American = APIDA)
- All values—This exports both coded and regular values columns displayed side by side, so the regular values column can act as a key of sorts for the coded values.
-
Force Private Response in Activities
- Previously, members were only able to select to leave a private response in a discussion.
- Now, a moderator can force the whole discussion to be private—enabling private threads with only the moderator within an activity (previously only available within a Diary).
- Think of this as the Diary Study capability inside of a Discussion.
- The setting appears in the Landing Page tab of activity creation.
Note: Uninfluenced Comments does not need to be enabled/does not apply if this setting is selected.
September 2022
- Multilingual Translation—Fuel Cycle's multilingual translation feature allows moderators to program their communities in one core language. At the same time, individual community members can share the same community experience in different languages.
- Append Groups in all Export Types—You can now append Groups to all export types just as you could initially append them to member exports:
Export Type | Groups Added to These Spreadsheet Tabs |
---|---|
Activity Export |
|
Member Forum |
|
Member Posts |
|
|

- Group Membership selection displays in the “Banners” section of the request page.
- The same logic applies to all export types: You can only include 10 groups in your export.
- Requesting Group membership data will appear in the same order as when requested in member exports, before the P2 Engine selection.
- Group membership data will also appear in your data in the same place it appears in members exports, before the P2 Engine data columns.
PLEASE NOTE: Group membership in member exports is near the “Filters” section of the request page and it is in the “Banners” section of all other export request pages.
Group membership filtering is not an applicable feature of other export types, so this is not included in other Group membership sections.
August 2022
- Quantitative Reporting: Added Filter by Member Group—Quantitative Reporting allows you to visualize and report on any Qualtrics, Alchemer, or Ignition survey that is fielded in a Fuel Cycle community. You can now filter your results to include or exclude only members in a certain dynamic or static group.
- Gamification Updates—We've made some minor adjustments to the Gamification Rewards Management screen to enhance our ability to provide more reward vendors. Internal Rewards are now called Custom Rewards. We've updated the user experience to make things more consistent and logical.
- Display Coded Question and Answer Values in Survey Data in Exports—Survey exports from the platform now display a second column for each question which shows the coded value for both the question (often called question alias) and answers (often called recoded value)
If there was a question Alias, the actual Alias provided will display in the column (see column I below). If there was not a question alias, it will display as [Question Text]_Coded in the column (see column K below).
July 2022
- Integrate Delta Testing into your Workflow with Zapier—Your Delta Testing project can integrate into any of 5000 applications using Zapier as a conduit. For example, your continuous product tracking receives feedback about a bug and you want to accelerate product improvement. You can craft an automated workflow that notifies your internal Slack channel and generates or updates a Jira bug ticket as soon as possible.
- Mark Support Messages as Unread—Change a support message back to an unread status. If a moderator needs to reassign a ticket to another moderator, they can reassign the ticket, then mark it as unread so that the second moderator will get notified that they have a support ticket to respond to.
June 2022
- Member Validation Feature Enhancement—Moderators may manually verify members to bypass mobile verification for reward redemption.
Moderators can enable mobile phone verification for All, Suspicious users, or None. - P2 Engine Data Formatting in Exports–Fields Dynamically Format by Expanded & Not Expanded Setting.
- P2 data and Polls now display in all exports dynamically based on how the field was set up—to expand or not expand (multi-select vs. single select).
- You do not need to export two files to get the data you need! Fuel Cycle recently put all P2 fields on the important tabs in exports, so they’re no longer only on the “Members” tab.
May 2022
-
Activities Page Tab Order Updates: We have updated the main activities page tabs to be in a more thematic order: Activity types (Activities, Member Forums & Posts, Delta Testing, Live Chats), activity elements (Events, FC Live, Video Analysis), settings (Categories, Topics, Featured & Sorting Asset Library).
-
Activity Creation—Surveys Step Order Update: The Surveys/Polls tab is now the second step in the activity programming order to be more intuitive to when surveys/polls are typically seen by members.
-
Activity Creation—Action & Points Step Minor Design Update: There is a new separator under the setting of the max points. While this may seem minor, the UI change means to help new moderators understand this setting impacts the others below it, an element that has been a bit of a learning curve before.
-
Profile Point Creation—Programming Order & Copy Update: The order of options when programming a profile point is updated to have Info, Type, and Source first and Settings last to match the order in which moderators program. The previous order required moderators to scroll to the bottom of the page as their second step.
There is also a copy update indicating that the “Expand answers as separate fields for pushed data” should be selected for multi-select options to make this setting easier to understand.
- Digital Project Request Form: We have developed a new project request form that provides real-time credit estimates for both Ignition and custom research projects. We hope you like the new design and request process. Please share this public link with other stakeholders within your organization. As always, let your Fuel Cycle account lead know if you have any questions or feedback.
- Enhancement to P2 Engine Data in Exports: When a Moderator selects “Include P2 Engine” in export, the P2 fields will now appear in all applicable tabs where the data would be needed (e.g., Survey data, Comments, Polls, etc.). Previously this data was only displayed on the Members tab of an export.
- Open Ends in Discovery Quant Reporting: Moderator and Client accounts can now view all open ends directly in the quant report. These were previously only available via file download. Visit the Discovery tab and find a survey with text responses to check it out!
- Activity Card Description: This field has moved from the bottom of the Activity Details step to just below the Activity Title. This change will improve moderators’ programming flow.
- Step Renaming: There are a few minor label changes to the steps in activity creation, most notably the Description step is now Landing Page — this label is more appropriate for its functionality.
- Attach Surveys Default Setting: The default setting when attaching a survey is now set to “Force member to take the survey before continuing to the activity landing page”. This is both the most common and our recommended setting.
April 2022
- Member Status Label Closed is now Dormant: The functionality of this member status has not changed, we’ve just updated the label to more accurately reflect said functionality. Visit the ! icon within the Members tab to learn more.
- Activity Action Archive/Unarchive is now Lock/Unlock: We’ve updated the label to more accurately reflect what the setting does. Visit the ! icon within the Activities tab to learn more.
Recruitment URLs Enhancement: Download up to 1 million unique links into one .csv file. Visit the ! icon within the Recruitment URLs page to learn more. - P2 Engine Enhancement: Apply the auto-create feature to any additional source added. This will save you time on updating profile fields. Visit an existing P2 field to see it in action.
Previous Updates
Recently, custom profile questions were moved to a new section in “Surveys” called “Polls” which includes a list of both predefined and custom questions.
Polls are defined as one-question polls that can currently only be used in profile/account settings, but shortly, these questions can be embedded in other areas of the community. All polls can be used in Profile Points, which is why these are grouped in the Polls section.
Polls consist of two types:
- Predefined
- These are the predefined demographic questions, such as marital and job status.
- Predefined questions cannot be edited, but are now listed on this page because they are part of Polls and can be used in Profile Points.
- Custom
- These are now created from the newly-renamed Polls section.
- Custom questions can only be used in profile settings at this time.
- In the future, these questions can be embedded into activities, homepage, live chat, and campaigns.
Update to Profile Settings
- The show in-profile icon has been removed from this page. To show a profile question in the profile to all users, you will need to create a Profile Point with the question as a source and select “Show in Profile”
NOTE: Moderator and clients will see all profile questions when viewing a user’s profile in the community (even questions not set to show in profile).
- If you want members to be able to view a profile question, you must create a Profile Point and select “Show in Profile” as described above.
- Adding survey questions to embed to the user profile has been removed from the Profile Settings page. You will now need to create a profile point and select “Push as embedded data” to achieve this.
- In addition, the Force Qualtrics panel update has been moved to the Surveys landing page. You’ll see a button for “Force Qualtrics Panel Update”.
- When you select it, a message will display confirming the panel update has been initiated and will run at midnight. After the update runs, this message will be removed.
